The ERSUC Environment house

To celebrate World Earth Day, Valongo doVouga school’s Eco-Schools Project took students to the ERSUC Environment House. This “house” travels all over the country, for it is none other than a huge truck with a studio (where kids watch videos about conscientious behaviour), with interactive material to learn about preserving the environment and about sustainability.

So, this week, the ERSUC Environment House parked in front of our primary and nursery school, in Arrancada do Vouga, near Águeda, where it remained from the 20th until the 23rd of April. And all the pre-schoolers, primary school children, 5th and 6th graders had an opportunity to visit the exhibition and participate in the fun activities.

They learned about our need to reuse in order to reduce the production of solid urban waste, especially that which is recyclable, such as cardboard, paper, metal, plastic and glass.

We also celebrated Eco-Schools Day – WORLD DAYS OF ACTION. Our 6th grade students dressed in green, from head to toe, took a walk to the nearest primary school to surprise the 4th graders and to explain what it is that we commemorate on World Earth Day. The 4th graders wrote down some suggestions on how to help our planet and, in turn, received a bookmarker made with recycled materials by the 6th graders.
